The Bachelor: Warhammer 40K Edition – Starring the Emperor of Mankind
Premise:
In this high-stakes, galaxy-spanning edition of The Bachelor, the Emperor of Mankind himself takes center stage, searching for the ultimate "favorite" among his twenty sons—the Primarchs. While the Emperor’s love is infinite, his approval is not. The Primarchs must compete for his favor, forming alliances, revealing vulnerabilities, and vying to receive the Final Rose that signifies being the most favored son in all of the Imperium. Expect dramatic eliminations, galactic tantrums, and perhaps even a betrayal or two.
Episode 1: "First Impressions"
The season begins with the Emperor standing regally at the entrance of the Imperial Palace on Terra, his golden armor gleaming in the setting sun. The Primarchs, each embodying the unique characteristics of their Legion, arrive one by one, trying to make their best impression on their father.
The Contestants Include:
-
Horus, the charismatic Warmaster, known for his charm and leadership.
-
Rogal Dorn, stoic and duty-bound, who believes his service speaks louder than words.
-
Sanguinius, angelic and noble, whose grace and beauty captivate even the Emperor.
-
Magnus the Red, the intellectual sorcerer, eager to prove his worth with his psychic prowess.
-
Leman Russ, the boisterous and wild wolf, intent on showing his loyalty in his own feral way.
-
Perturabo, the brooding master of siege warfare, seeking the approval he always felt was denied.
-
Fulgrim, the embodiment of perfection, confident that the Emperor will see him as the ideal son.
Confessional (Horus):
"I’ve always been my father’s favorite. But this is a competition, and I’m not letting anyone stand in my way."
Confessional (Sanguinius):
"I love all my brothers, but my connection with our father is something divine. I feel like I’m destined to be his closest companion."
The Emperor meets each Primarch and senses the tension among them. While Horus tries to charm him with flattery, Dorn remains reserved but resolute. Sanguinius receives an especially warm reception, with the Emperor lingering in his presence a little longer than with the others.
By the end of the evening, it's time for the First Impression Rose. After a brief but intense conversation with each son, the Emperor awards it to Sanguinius, citing his balance of strength, nobility, and heart.
Confessional (Horus):
"I can’t believe he gave the First Rose to Sanguinius. But it’s fine. I’m playing the long game."
Episode 2: "Group Date: Defend the Palace"
For the first group date, the Primarchs are tasked with a challenge that tests their martial prowess and leadership. They must defend the Imperial Palace from a simulated siege. Each Primarch is placed in command of a sector, and the Emperor watches closely to see who leads most effectively.
Perturabo feels this is his moment to shine, given his expertise in siege warfare, and takes charge, constructing an elaborate defense system. Rogal Dorn, not to be outdone, focuses on fortifying his sector with meticulous precision. Leman Russ, on the other hand, charges headfirst into battle with a more aggressive approach.
Confessional (Perturabo):
"This is my arena. Dorn thinks he can outdo me, but the Emperor will see who the real master of fortifications is."
After the simulated battle, Perturabo performs well, but Dorn’s calm, methodical approach wins the Emperor’s approval. Leman Russ impresses with his sheer ferocity, but the Emperor expresses concern over his reckless tactics.
That evening, the Emperor has one-on-one time with each Primarch. Magnus tries to bond with his father over their shared psychic abilities, but the Emperor remains cautious, hinting at his concerns over Magnus’s methods.
Rose Ceremony:
The Emperor hands roses to Dorn, Russ, and, surprisingly, Magnus—though he warns the sorcerer to be careful with his powers. Perturabo looks visibly frustrated, feeling overshadowed by Dorn once again.
Episode 3: "One-on-One Date: A Walk Through the Webway"
The Emperor takes Magnus on the season’s first one-on-one date. They travel into the depths of the Webway, a secret project of the Emperor’s. It’s a rare moment for Magnus to see a side of his father that no other Primarch has witnessed.
Magnus tries to express his loyalty and yearning for his father’s approval, explaining that all his studies and use of the Warp were meant to bring them closer together. The Emperor, though touched by Magnus’s desire for understanding, reiterates his fears about the dangers of the Warp.
The Emperor:
"You seek knowledge, my son, but not all knowledge is meant to be wielded. There are forces beyond even your control."
At the end of the date, Magnus receives a rose, but the Emperor’s words clearly weigh heavily on him.
Episode 4: "Group Date: The Art of Perfection"
For the next group date, the Emperor challenges the Primarchs to create something that embodies their vision of perfection, testing their creativity and ambition.
Fulgrim, of course, thrives in this challenge, crafting a masterwork of beauty that dazzles even his brothers. Ferrus Manus, participating reluctantly, forges a mighty weapon but downplays its significance, seeing utility as more important than aesthetics. Roboute Guilliman presents a strategic plan for the future of the Imperium, impressing the Emperor with his foresight.
Confessional (Fulgrim):
"This is what I was born to do—create perfection. No one can compare."
After viewing the results, the Emperor spends time with each son. Fulgrim is confident, but the Emperor warns him about the dangers of vanity. Guilliman impresses with his clear vision for the Imperium’s future, and Ferrus Manus earns respect for his humility.
Rose Ceremony:
Guilliman and Ferrus both receive roses, while Fulgrim, though he gets a rose, is left reflecting on the Emperor’s words.
Episode 5: "One-on-One Date: A Trip to Ullanor"
The Emperor takes Horus on a one-on-one date to the site of the Ullanor Triumph, where Horus proved himself as a capable leader. They reminisce about the victory, and the Emperor praises Horus’s ability to inspire and lead.
Horus takes this moment to express his desire to stand by his father’s side as the Warmaster, insisting that no one is more suited to lead the Imperium’s armies.
The Emperor:
"You are a leader, Horus, but leadership is more than victories. It’s about guiding those under your command with wisdom."
Despite the Emperor’s cautionary words, Horus receives a rose, feeling emboldened by the special attention from his father.
Episode 6: "Hometown Dates"
In this episode, the Emperor visits the homeworlds of the remaining Primarchs: Dorn, Horus, Sanguinius, and Russ.
-
On Fenris, Leman Russ impresses with his fierce loyalty, but the Emperor worries that his wild nature might not fit his long-term vision for the Imperium.
-
On Terra, Dorn showcases the fortifications he’s built, impressing the Emperor with his dedication and sense of duty.
-
On Baal, Sanguinius reveals the depths of his compassion for his people, showing a blend of strength and empathy that resonates deeply with the Emperor.
-
On Cthonia, Horus highlights his strong connection with his people, but the Emperor senses a growing ambition in his son.
Episode 7: "The Final Rose"
In the final episode, the Emperor must choose between the last two Primarchs standing: Sanguinius and Horus.
Sanguinius represents everything noble and pure, while Horus is the charismatic, bold leader who has always sought his father’s favor.
After much deliberation, the Emperor calls Sanguinius forward.
The Emperor:
"Sanguinius, my son, you embody the light of the Imperium. You are my heart, and I have always known that your nobility is unmatched. Will you accept the Final Rose?"
Sanguinius accepts, and the Emperor crowns him as his favored son, leaving Horus to simmer in the background, his jealousy quietly brewing.
Confessional (Horus):
"I thought I was the one. I thought it was my destiny to stand at his side. But he chose Sanguinius. This isn’t over."
After the Final Rose:
During the reunion special, Sanguinius and the Emperor discuss their unbreakable bond, while Horus makes a shocking appearance, hinting at dark plans ahead. The tension between the brothers is palpable, setting the stage for future drama within the Imperium.
The Bachelor: Emperor of Mankind Edition closes with Sanguinius crowned as the Emperor’s chosen son
