Phone Swap: Rogal Dorn Edition
Title: Phone Swap: Rogal Dorn Edition
INT. BRIGHTLY LIT STUDIO - DAY
The upbeat theme song for Phone Swap plays as the camera pans over a modern, trendy set. Two phones rest on a table in the center. The host, a charismatic TV personality, stands between the two chairs where today's contestants will meet. The energy is high as the studio audience buzzes with excitement.
HOST
Welcome to Phone Swap, the show where two people meet for the first time, swap phones, and then decide if they want to go on a second date! Today, we have a very special episode. Our first contestant is a young woman from Terra—she’s a digital marketing professional, loves brunch, and is looking for someone who can keep up with her active lifestyle! Please welcome Jessica!
Jessica enters, waving at the crowd. She’s in her mid-twenties, wearing a casual but fashionable outfit, her hair tied back in a ponytail. She sits down with a friendly smile.
HOST
And now, her date! A warrior of unparalleled strength, the Primarch of the Imperial Fists, and the very embodiment of duty and stoicism. You know him, you admire him—please welcome Rogal Dorn!
The crowd gasps as Rogal Dorn steps onto the set. Towering at nearly eight feet, clad in golden armor with the symbol of the Imperial Fists emblazoned on his massive pauldrons, he strides forward with a posture as stiff as the walls he builds. He takes his seat, his expression unreadable, as Jessica stares up at him, wide-eyed.
HOST
chuckling nervously
Well! This is certainly going to be an interesting episode. Now, you both know how this works. You’ll swap phones, take a peek into each other’s lives, and afterward, decide if you want to see each other again. Ready?
JESSICA
sounding a bit uncertain
Uh, sure! Let’s do it.
ROGAL DORN
nodding firmly
I am always ready.
The host hands both Rogal and Jessica each other’s phones. Rogal inspects Jessica’s phone with curiosity—his massive armored fingers delicately trying to tap the screen without breaking it, while Jessica holds his large, intimidating, gold-plated dataslate with caution.
HOST
Alright, let’s see what you discover! Jessica, why don’t you start?
Jessica unlocks Rogal’s phone and begins scrolling, looking curious but a little unsure of what she’ll find. The camera zooms in on her face as she scrolls through pictures and notes.
JESSICA
confused
Um… okay, lots of tactical plans… blueprints for, like, fortifications? Uh… some sketches of turrets? Oh, here’s a calendar event. It just says, "Strengthen Terra's defenses." Is that… for a meeting or something?
ROGAL DORN
It is not an event. It is a reminder of my eternal duty. The walls of Terra must be constantly fortified. There is no room for error.
Jessica nods, not quite sure how to respond, and moves on. She stumbles upon a message thread—an endless back-and-forth of tactical discussions.
JESSICA
Wow, you’re really dedicated to your work. This is, like, all strategy and logistics. Do you… do anything for fun?
ROGAL DORN
pauses, considering
My duty is my purpose. To guard the Emperor’s realm is both my responsibility and my satisfaction.
JESSICA
smiling awkwardly
Cool, cool. Sounds… fulfilling.
HOST
chuckling
Now, Rogal, your turn!
Rogal carefully swipes through Jessica’s phone, his brows furrowing as he scrolls through her messages and photos. He pauses when he sees pictures of Jessica out with her friends—brunches, yoga classes, and beach vacations.
ROGAL DORN
curiously
These gatherings… are they tactical in nature?
JESSICA
laughs
No, no! That’s just me hanging out with my friends. You know, going to brunch, doing yoga. Just fun stuff.
Rogal continues scrolling, finding more social events and messages about everyday life—plans for trips, group chats about pop culture, and memes.
ROGAL DORN
studying the screen
You spend much time in frivolous pursuits.
JESSICA
defensive but playful
Hey, a girl’s gotta have some downtime! Not everything can be about fortifying walls, right?
ROGAL DORN
frowning slightly
Downtime is for the weak.
Jessica looks at him, slightly taken aback but still trying to keep the mood light.
JESSICA
Well, I mean, a little fun doesn’t hurt, does it? Like, don’t you ever just relax? Go out with friends? Watch a movie?
ROGAL DORN
stiffly
There is no time for such distractions when the Imperium is in constant peril. However, I do hold council with my fellow Primarchs on occasion, though such meetings often end in...disagreements.
JESSICA
grinning
Sounds intense. And I thought brunch with my friends could get dramatic.
HOST
laughing awkwardly
Looks like you two have pretty different lifestyles! Now, it’s time to decide: after seeing a bit of each other’s world, do you want to go on a second date?
The tension builds as Jessica and Rogal exchange glances. The studio audience waits with bated breath.
JESSICA
biting her lip
Okay, so… Rogal, you seem like a really dedicated guy. Like, super dedicated. But I don’t think we have much in common, you know? I love going out, relaxing with friends, and just enjoying life. And you… well, you’re all about duty and… uh, the walls.
ROGAL DORN
nodding solemnly
Our lives are indeed quite different. Your focus on leisure and… brunch is incompatible with the rigid discipline I must uphold. The safety of the Emperor’s realm requires unwavering vigilance. A partnership between us would be… illogical.
HOST
Oof, well, there you have it! No second date, but at least you both know where you stand! Jessica, thank you for joining us, and Rogal, I hope Terra’s walls remain as fortified as ever.
OUTRO INTERVIEWS:
In post-show interviews, Jessica reflects on her date.
JESSICA
laughing
He’s definitely not the brunch type! Rogal’s super intense. I get that he’s got, like, this huge responsibility, but I don’t think I could ever get used to someone being that serious all the time. I mean, we’re talking about brunch and he’s thinking about fortifications! Definitely not a match.
Meanwhile, Rogal speaks in his usual stern tone.
ROGAL DORN
The experience has confirmed that my life is best dedicated solely to the defense of the Imperium. Relationships built on frivolity are distractions from my purpose. I must return to my duties immediately.
HOST (V.O.)
Well, folks, not every match is made in the stars—or in the fortress, apparently. Join us next week for more phone-swapping fun on Phone Swap!
The screen fades to black as the credits roll, the upbeat music returning as the audience claps and cheers.
End.
